Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras 2

Created by Richard Thomas

Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras 2 starts out presenting a chapter for each of six historical eras; each of which features two Chronicles of Darkness game lines which include Vampire: The Requiem, Mage: The Awakening, Hunter: The Vigil, Changeling: The Lost, and more! The rules in this book are compatible with second edition Chronicles of Darkness. Each terrifying time period and location is examined through the supernatural creatures that dwell there.

September Dark Eras2 Update!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Sep 26, 2017 at 09:16:54 PM

Hello Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras 2 backers!

RichT here:

The Dev team: Monica, Meghan, and Matthew, have been working with the Backers who pledged to add Eras and game lines to the book, and have just today presented me and our editorial staff with a Table of Contents with all the Eras and their suggested game lines. Which I'm sure they arrived at with a lot of discussion, as it is just not easy to pick from so many great possible Eras and games.

We'll get comments back to the Dev team, and they'll talk with the contributing backers, and then the process of making our book will begin. I am leaving the decision as to whether to reveal the Eras and matching gamelines to our Dev team...so please don't ask me to tell! :)

Also, I wanted to let you all know that our latest Kickstarter is running, and this time it is for Rose Bailey's Cavaliers of Mars!

Live, fight, and love on Mars, a world of red death and strange mystery, a world of savagery and romance.

Return now to dying Mars in its last age of glory. A planet of flashing swords and choking sands, of winking courtesans and lantern-lit canal cities.

Mars, where fortune and heartbreak are two sides of the same obsidian chit, where lost cities and dry oceans stretch between the last bastions of civilization. Where the First Martians, the monument-builders, are but a haunted memory. Where the Red Martians become decadent and reckless in their last days. Where the Pale Martians rule the wastes, remembering a history whose weight would crush a lesser people.

If that sounds interesting, we'd love to have you check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/cavaliers-of-mars-a-tabletop-roleplaying-game

Remember: Mars has canals... therefore, Mars must have Venice!

August Dark Eras2 Update!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Sep 06, 2017 at 05:29:12 PM

Hello Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras 2 backers!

RichT here:

Everything has processed through Kickstarter, and the Dev team, Monica, Meghan, and Matthew, are working out the development process now that they know the full extent of the book, and have been sent the email addresses of those backers who pledged for rewards concerning the development of the book (pretty much all the upper level reward tiers). They'll reach out to those folks, and we'll find out which Eras get which gamelines.

That's pretty much it for right now!

Thanks for your support-

And... FUNDED!

Hi, folks,  Rose here! I'm happy to announce that the project is formally go! I'll hand the mic to Rich...

---

RichT:

Huzzah! Thanks to all of you who believed in and voted and pledged for this book, Thanks to you, we made it and what a great selection of Dark Eras are going to be in it!

Our progress on this KS was slow and steady, and now comes the actual creation. For those of you who pledged for rewards that effect the book, we'll be contacting you ASAP so everybody can get started. Remember: for the "resurrection" of Dark Eras reward tiers, any Era we put up for votes but didn't win counts- even the last three!

We'll be putting up a BackerKit site for this in the months to come - expect Updates along the way to let you know how the project is coming. Again- this is literally a book we couldn't create without you, so our huge thanks for everything you did to make it happen!

Golden Age of Science Fiction wins! Time for one more?
over 6 years ago – Sat, Aug 05, 2017 at 05:15:35 PM

Hi, Rose here. ^_^ You picked the Golden Age of Science Fiction as our next Dark Era! We've got less than an hour to go, but let's shoot for one more, at $63,000. The poll's up, and the descriptions are below!

http://theonyxpath.com/dark-eras-poll/

Wild West, 1865 to 1895 C.E.

The Old West is marked by prospectors and scouts, gangs of outlaws and gunfighters, lawmen and gamblers, and, of course, cowboys. Dotted with small towns and historic passages west, the Old West has been romanticized into an American ideal: manifest destiny. But the propaganda sent back east doesn't match the reality. This isn't expanding into an unexplored frontier, it's conquest. In the Chronicles of Darkness, the Wild West takes on an even darker shape, as its denizens struggle to understand the rapidly changing landscape and the problems new settlers bring.

Voynich Manuscript 1400-1450 C.E.

Created during the Italian Renaissance, the Voynich Manuscript is a cryptic codex filled with wondrous illustrations that have yet to be fully identified. Written in an indecipherable language, its folios depict herbal, astronomical, biological, cosmological, and pharmaceutical illustrations, along with several recipes. While the codex's many secrets have yet to be unraveled in the modern era, in the Chronicles of Darkness the codex's creation sits at the center of a maelstrom. On the one hand, the codex represents a unique collaborative effort to collate evidence of the supernatural and natural worlds. On the other, there are many creatures who believe this work acts as proof of their existence and abilities, and would do anything to suppress its creation.

Rise of the Maurya Empire, 321-329 B.C.E.

Two short years after Alexander's death in 323 B.C.E. Chandragupta Maurya of Magadha founds the Maurya Empire in India by overthrowing the kingdom of Nanda and defeating Alexander's satraps. The young ruler is an accomplished conquerer and, at twenty years of age, plants the roots for an empire that lasts until 185 B.C.E. This is an era marked not only by conquest, but by deft political moves and decisions to broker peace, trade deals, and find a harmonious balance. In the Chronicles of Darkness, its denizens must decide how they fit into the new landscape. Some go on to form an empire of their own.

One hour warning: Check your pledges!
over 6 years ago – Sat, Aug 05, 2017 at 05:15:27 PM

Hi, Rose here. ^_^

Please take a moment between now and the end of this Kickstarter in just under an hour to review your pledge. I know it sounds unnecessary because you're on top of it and/or it's annoying to get warning messages, but both of the issues below have happened to backers during one of our other KSs.

1) Did you pledge to the Reward Tier that offers you the rewards you want? Go through the description and make sure the rewards are mentioned there. They are not cumulative with the Reward Tiers before them.

2) Did you make sure that your payment method is valid? Is your credit card maxed out? Kickstarter will mark your pledge non-collectible and you won't get your Rewards. Did you borrow the card and they decided to block the charge because you had a fight? There's a window to resolve payment issues with KS, but there's no guarantee that the resolution will be what you want. Better to make sure your payment method will work now.

That covers the typical trouble spots, and we'll be answering your questions in the comments, or more directly via the "contact me" link on Rich's profile, for the rest of the KS.
